Ringsend Irishtown Traffic News

Councillor Kieran Binchy has welcomed the announcement that Dublin City Council has secured funding for a number of road works in the Ringsend and Irishtown area. The Council has identified a number of traffic issues, but it wants to hear from local residents, businesses and interested members of the community on how traffic in the area should be improved.

The following issues have been identified as a priority:

  • Dermot O’Hurley Avenue/Fitzwilliam Quay – Road closure.
  • Cambridge Road - Footpath build outs at school warden crossing point.
  • Strand Street/Pembroke Street – Modify island at junction and implement a one way system in conjunction with allowing two way traffic on Chapel Avenue. In addition provide directional signage for Ringsend Park and Irishtown Stadium.
  • Irishtown Road – Upgrade existing and provide new dished crossing, upgrade pedestrian refuge islands and bollards.

The Ringsend/Irishtown Traffic Plan will be on display in Ringsend Library, Fitzwilliam Street, from Thursday 12th July until Friday 20th July 2012, during normal library opening hours. The Council wants interested members of the community and local businesses to view these plans and make any comments they feel necessary.
