Sandymount Tidy Towns

The Sandymount Tidy Towns Committee is doing great work to mobilise volunteers in the village. One of the positive outcomes of the Sandymount Village Design Statement, the committee is bringing residents together to work towards a positive and rewarding goal. If you would like to help out, just come along to Sandymount Green at 11:00am on Saturday morning - Joe, Alan and the other committee members will put you to good use.

A cross party group of local politicians turned up on Saturday morning to help out – pictured above are myself, Cllr. Dermot Lacey (Labour) and Cllr. Jim O’Callaghan (Fianna Fail). Cllr. Paddy McCartan and Cllr. Mannix Flynn were also there to help out, along with Deputy Kevin Humphreys. We were given the task of tackling the unsightly plastic cable ties which are sometimes left behind on lamp posts after elections when political posters are taken down.

It was a sociable and rewarding way to spend a Saturday morning. There is a plenty of neighbourhood clean-ups going on around the country (it is National Spring Clean Month) so do get involved.
