To ask the Manager to ensure that the cycle lanes along the North and South Docklands (between Talbot Bridge and Samuel Beckett Bridge) and the new Grand Canal Cycleway are very clearly marked as cycle lanes, for example with highly visible stencils at short intervals on the ground along the lane, as they are currently being used as footpaths, causing a serious accident risk for both cyclists and pedestrians.
CITY MANAGER’S REPLY:
Cycle lanes and cycle tracks are indicated by both signage and road markings. The road markings consist of both cycle symbols and continuous or broken lines. The Traffic Officer will review marking and supplement or modify if required.
The New Grand Canal Cycleway will be clearly marked as cycle lanes when it is completed and ready to open.
